Born: April 17 in Napier, Hawkes Bay (the "art deco" capital of New Zealand)

Maureen initially trained as a teacher. She became involved in amateur theatre and eventually became the administrator of the Gateway Players, a small theatrical group in Tauranga. She and her husband Peter Tulloch also joined Christchurch's Court Theatre and in 1977 she and Peter moved from New Zealand to Australia with their three children (2 sons and a daughter).
